GUWAHATI, Dec 13: On Monday, Buddhist Youths Council, Assam submitted a memorandum to the chief minister of Assam to provide one time financial aid to the Buddhist monks living in the state. They requested the chief minister to provide financial assistance to the Buddhist monks who suffered a lot of difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic period. “The history of Buddhism is very old in Assam and Buddhist monks have done lots of interfaith work throughout the state of Assam to bring peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society. The government of Assam should stand with the Buddhist monks’ community in this tough time,” said Dr Monojit Singha, general secretary of the organisation.
