Cancer Hospital to Open in Jorhat

JORHAT, Dec 17: Cancer patients in Jorhat will soon get treatment for the dreaded disease at the cancer hospital to be opened in Jorhat Medical College and Hospital soon.

Dr Altaf Ali Ahmed, assistant professor, department of surgery, JMCH said that a CME cum workshop on surgical oncology had been organised at JMCH by the Department of Surgery and Association of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, scheduled to begin from December 23.

Experts in the field of oncology are slated to be resource persons at the CME cum Workshop, Dr Ahmed, who is also organising secretary of the CME cum workshop said.

He added that the Tata Cancer Hospital would be benefitted from the workshop.

It may be mentioned that the Assam government had announced a couple of years ago that 19 cancer care centres would be set up across the state in partnership with Tata Trusts at an investment of Rs 1,910 crore.
