Cattle smuggler caught in South Salmara

GUWAHATI, May 16: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler on Tuesday from Indo-Bangladesh border of Gudligaon, District South Salmara.

On specific input provided by Border Security Force intelligence Team of Dhubri Sector, (Assam), troops of BOP Gudligaon of 06 Bn. BSF deployed in South Salmara district were keeping surveillance and domination over border area. Alerted troops observed suspicious movement of miscreants along with cattle towards IB and challenged them to stop for identification. They did not pay any heed and tried to escape towards Bangladesh along with cattle heads. One of them was apprehended by the troops after pursuit and before crossing to International boundary along with cattle head. Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Majibul Rehman, (40 Yrs). He has been handed over to PS-Mankachar, Distt- South Salmara (Assam) for further legal action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 101 cattle heads having approximate value of Rs. 7,20,795/- , 126 btls of Phensedyl worth Rs. 16,065/- and 25.2 Kg Ganja during the month of May 2018 to till date.
