Sonowal meets Danve Raosaheb Dadarao
GUWAHATI, Aug 21: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday held a meeting with Union minister of state for consumer affairs Danve Raosaheb Dadarao where the duo had extensive discussion of public distribution system (PDS). The Union minister sought plot of land from the Assam government for setting up FCI godowns in Assam.
Stating Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving importance for the development of North-East, the Union minister said that his ministry is seriously considering setting up six more FCI godowns in the state.
He also requested chief minister to allot land for the same. Sonowal said that very shortly he will allot suitable land for the establishment of godowns. He also said considering huge supply of commodities to the state, the Union minister asked for using the state ware houses on payment basis for the benefits of the state government. The discussion also stressed on creating adequate infrastructure for extending benefits to the farmers for acquiring and purchasing food commodities.
The chief minister also thanked the Union minister for his visit to Assam to take some proactive steps to ensure seamless supply of essential commodities in the state.
Minister of industries and commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary, MLA Prasanta Phukan, chief minister’s principal secretary Sanjay Lohiya and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
