Citizenship Bill: AASU organises public meet in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, May 16: The issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 is still boiling the state and voices in greater number raised against this proposed legislation to give citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Golaghat district unit of the All Assam Students Union organised a public meeting at Golaghat Amateur Theatre Society auditorium where representatives from almost all the political and non political organisations, intellectuals, journalists, women activists and common people of Golaghat were present. All of them protested against this proposed legislation and criticised the central government as well as the state government. The protesters unitedly voiced against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 and demanded immediate dismissal of this proposed legislation.
