Cleanliness drive marks Gandhi Jayanti in KA

DIPHU, Oct 2: To mark the Gandhi Jayanti and the 18-day-long Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang led a cleaning drive at Diphu Civil Hospital on Monday. KAAC chairman Horensing Bey; EMs Pradip Rongpi, Amarsing Tisso and Khansing Rongpi; MAC Lunsing Teron and principal secretary Jayshree Daulaguphu; joint director of health service, Dr. Kareng Rongpipi also took part in the drive.

The CEM stressed the need for cleaning the civil hospital and instructed EM for health and family welfare, Khansing Rongpi for taking steps for beautification of the back space of the hospital.

“Today on the Gandhi Jayanti we are cleaning up the Diphu Civil Hospital, which is a campaign to tell people to keep the hospital clean. The Diphu Civil Hospital is one of the cleanest hospitals in Assam and the state government has awarded the Diphu Civil Hospital with the cleanest hospital award. A certificate and cash award of Rs.50 lakh was received by the hospital from Assam government,” Ronghang said.

Earlier, the CEM along with EMs, MAC and principal secretary have garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid floral tribute at Gandhi Park, Diphu bus stand.

Diphu unit of All Assam Gorkha Students Union celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by organising a drawing competition for school children at Kala Kendra. School children from around Diphu town participated in the competition.

The 20 Bn of CRPF of Birla Plywood Factory carried out a cleaning drive at Diphu Civil Hospital as part of Swachhata Hi Seva and Swachh Bharat Mission. Commandant Anil Kumar along with officers and jawans of the CRPF took part in the drive.
