DIPHU, June 23: Before taking part in the 67th foundation day of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated various infrastructure projects to the tune of Rs 350 crore in the presence of CEM Tuliram Ronghang along with executive Members (EMs), Member of Autonomous Council (MACs), MLAs and principal secretary Mahadananda Hazarika here on Saturday.
He inaugurated the two lane road with railings at Rongpharpi Nokbepi traffic island. The road was constructed under the maintenance and repairing of town roads and footpath under one time special assistance from NITI Ayog for 2015-16 fiscal.
The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for construction of multi-storied car parking, multi-storied shopping complex and Karbi Anglong guest house. The multi-storied car parking and shopping complex will be constructed adjacent to Semson Sing Engti Memorial Park.
Earlier, the CEM Ronghang along with deputy chairman Ritiesh Enghi, EM for irrigation, Amarsing Tisso and other EMs and MACs inaugurated schemes in Singhason and Borjan MAC constituencies.
The schemes inaugurated were Dillai Irrigation Scheme (IS), Phongronglangso IS, Borjan Composite IS, open stages at Borjan and Jilangso and Market Shed at Tichom village under Singhason MAC constituency.
He also distributed cheques of Rs. 5000 among women vegetable vendors at Tichom village. Ronghang also planted tree saplings in Diphu market to mark the celebration.
