Coal-laden truck seized in KA, police on high alert

BORGAON, Aug 9:Police have seized one coal-laden truck at Umlafer Ulukhunchi police outpost in West Karbi Anglong district during a search operation in the wee hours of Friday.

Police claimed that the truck was carrying coal without any valid document.

Four persons, including the main accused Durmison Ronghang and Jakve Teron (who claimed to be a member of KPLT) were arrested in this connection.

The coal syndicate holders ruled the roost with the help of a section of police and forest officials. The consignments of coal extracted through rate hole mining have been transported from Sabuda via Nelie and Jagiraod at the very nose of the police and forest officials.

Meanwhile, Karbi Anglong district police chief claimed that an alert has been sounded in all police stations and police out posts on illegal transportation of coal from Karbi Hills to other parts of the country.
