CoF, AAU students bag top rank in ICAR-AIEEA

RAHA, Nov 25: Two students of College of Fisheries, AAU, Raha have secured top ranks in All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA) for admission into post graduate degree programmes in Masters of Fisheries Science (MFSc).

Manab Jyoti Barman, Sarthebari, Barpeta and Zakir Hussain, Chapar, Dhubri districts graduated from College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University have bagged the first and ninth rank respectively in the AIEEA-PG-2020-2021.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, conducts AIEEA for admission to Masters Degree Programme in Agriculture and allied sciences every year for 25 percent seats in Agriculture and Fisheries universities.

Both the students from College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University have also been selected for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to be sponsored by ICAR.

To felicitate the rank holders a programme was organised on Monday at the Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah auditorium of the college of fisheries, Raha where Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka, vice chancellor, AAU, attended as chief guest.

The vice chancellor hailed the entire teaching fraternity of the College of Fisheries, AAU for making all possible efforts to help the students in preparing for the examination and congratulated the duo for bagging the top positions in the country.

Dr Binod Kalita, dean, College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University has also expressed satisfaction and happiness over the performance of the students. He expressed his gratitude towards the vice chancellor of AAU and teaching staff of the college for their constant support and guidance towards this institute.

Congratulating the students, the former dean of the college Dr KK Tamuli said, “Winning ICAR Junior Fellowship in the AIEEA has always been the dream of students pursuing BFSc at the fisheries colleges in India. Students of fisheries colleges across the country had been endeavouring to excel in this examination to win this fellowship.”

Dr Niranjan Kalita, director of Research, Veterinary Science, Khanapara attending the function as guest of honour also congratulated the rank holders and advised the other students of the college to bring more glory to the college.
