KHERONI, Aug. 17: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Thursday said his government is committed to improve the infrastructural facilities of the villages bordering Meghalaya.
Addressing a Vijay Utsav at Zirikyndeng for MAC Rani Terangpi, Ronghang said improvement of roads in the areas will be taken up shortly. Within this year the construction of road from Kheroni to Meghalaya border via Skap and Umkhermi will be started soon. “There will be departmental inspection in each three months. Water tanks will be also constructed for providing potable water by the PHE department,” he said.
“HSLC examination centre will also be constructed by the education department. Initiatives will be taken for improvement of Koka river front as a picnic spot by the tourist department. A mobile tower will also be constructed at Zirikingeng. Development schemes will be implemented for all round development of Amreng constituency,” he added.
The Vijay Utsav was organised for victory of MAC Rani Terangpi in the recently-concluded elections. In her address, MAC Terangpi said there are many needs of the Amreng MAC constituency.
Terangpi also said that Zirikyndeng needs a HSLC examination centre, potable water facility, the road condition is very deplorable and there is no Community Health Centre (CHC).
KAAC chairman Horensing Bey, MACs Mangal Sing Timung and Pawan Kumar Rai and, West Karbi Anglong BJYM president Purno Ronghang, West Karbi Anglong BJP Mahila Morcha president Moni Teronpi and others were present at the function.
