Cong demands Gorlosa’s arrest, urges Mukhi for dissolution of NCHAC

GUWAHATI, Aug 10: A day after the media blasted the report of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief executive member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa’s nexus with the erstwhile DHD(J) group, Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DHDCC) on Friday demanded immediate arrest of CEM Gorlosa and dissolution of the council to safeguard the sanctity of justice and to instill confidence in the minds of the common people.

On Thursday, a local satellite channel carried a report on the basis of a confessional statement of one Miput Raijung @Action Dimasa @ David Kemprai son of Sri Dipomn Raijung that Gorlosa had paid Rs 50 lakh to the DHD(J) April 27, 2007 for purchase of arms by the rebel outfit, who had unleashed a reign of terror in the hill district.

The 33-year-old Action Dimasa is a former rebel leader of the outfit who hails from Miyungpur Village (14 KM) under Umrangso Police Station of the hill district. His statement was recorded in the court of the district and sessions judge in connection with the case No 18/08 on July 27.

A day after the media report, the Dima Hasao DCC held a crucial meeting at Rajib Bhawan here and demanded transfer of the case from the court of Dima Hasao District & Session Judge to Gauhati High Court as there are serious allegation against the CEM Gorlosa alias Daniel Dimasa.

The Congress also urged Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi to dissolve the executive committee (EC) of the council immediately and take over the administration of the council.

Party also urged that the Session case No. 18/08 be shifted to the Gauhati High Court, Guwahati as there are more allegations and cases pending against CEM Gorlosa.

The district Congress also urged the administration to provide security for Action Dimasa and his family.
