9 more test positive in West KA, 35 in Dima Hasao
GUWAHATI, June 3: The state witnessed the biggest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 317 people testing positive during the last 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 1,830, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Several COVID-19 warriors, including doctors are also among the fresh positive cases reported from various places,
“Alert ~ 74 new cases of #COVID19+ 59 Dhubri, 14 Nagaon, 1 Udalguri,” Sarma tweeted 11.05 pm on Wednesday.
At around 9.29 pm, the health minister said in another tweet, “Alert ~ 84 new cases of #COVID19+ 30 Dima Hasao, 20 Hojai, 14 Biswanath, 10 Dibrugarh, 3 Kamrup, 2 Karimganj, 2 Airport, 1 Cachar, 1 Udalguri, 1 Lakhimpur.”
Of 51 new cases reported till 1.55 pm, 28 have been reported from Dhubri, 13 from Darrang, 5 from Karimganj, 3 from Sonitpur, from 2 Lakhimpur.
In the morning, 60 new cases have been reported, of them, 38 are from Dhubri, 18 from Golaghat, 4 are from Nagaon district.
9 more persons tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total positive patients to 14 in West Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.
On the other hand, 35 more cases have been reported from Dima Hasao district taking the tally to 42 on Wednesday.
Of the fresh cases reported from West Karbi Anglong, 5 have been reported from Kheroni quarantine centre, 2 from Tumpreng quarantine centre and 2 are from Nawaibil ‘Containment zone.
They have been identified as Ashok Bora (24), Milin Marak (23), Edwin Bathari (26), Phukan Daimary (24), Jayanta Hanse (24), Borlongki Timung (24), Tengrak Sangma (19), Rahul Das (25) and Jogesh Chouhan (22).
All the patients have been shifted to Diphu Medical & College Hospital (DMCH).
Meanwhile, West Karbi Anglong district administration has declared Mailoo Bazaar near Santoshi Maa Mandir near NRC building, Old Sugar Mill area as ‘containment zone’ to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The total number of positive cases in Dima Hasao district has gone up to 42 with five more persons tested positive on Wednesday. All the patients returnees from Chennai and were kept in different quarantine centers in around Haflong.
Meanwhile, N C Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) EM for health, Samual Chansan said the seven positive patients who were undergoing treatment in Haflong Civil Hospital have tested negative.
Their cases will be placed before the State Discharged Board for a formal discharge and declaration of recovery.
18 more test positive at Nagaon
Eighteen more cases have been reported from Nagaon district. Two patients who tested positive for COVID-19, were released from institutional quarantine. While two others were in quarantine at CCCs.
They have been identified as: Abdul Subur (26) of Rupahi Chalchali under Rupahihat PS, Bikash Sarkar (33) and Dipti Dey Sarkar (31) of Rajagaon under Kochuwa PS and Abdul Khan (20) of Geruamukh under Khatowal PS.
27 new cases in Biswanath
27 fresh cases have been reported from Biswanath district on Wednesday. 11 positive cases were reported from ITI; Biswanath Chariali, two from Biswanath College. All the patients have been shifted to Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH).
The patients have been identified as Ajit Khodal, Sujit Khodal, Sanak Sabar, Purneswar Khodal, Dilip Paik, Biswajit Khodal, Sunil Khodal, Sunil Khodal, Anil Khodal, Debraj Khodal, Krishna Bahadur Chhetri, Diganta Nath and Sachin Pokhrel.
All the twelve infected persons have returned to the state by train while one by bus services. Thirteen positive eleven have returned from Delhi two from Haryana and Gujarat. Among the Positive cases six are from Tangiya Basti; Sootea, two from Ghiladhari, one from Gorpal; Sootea, Panibharal; Biswanath, Ghiladhari T.E; Sootea, Pratapgorh T.E, Biswanath Chariali respectively. Again the result of eleven news cases came to light recently. The new eleven patients have been in quarantine centres located at Biswanath College, Pavoi MSDP and from Chaiduwar College. Maximum patients hail from Gohpur, Baghmari and Sootea area.
13 fresh infection in Darrang
The number of positive case has risen to 20 in Darrang district with 13 fresh cases reported on Wednesday.
Two cases have been reported from Sipajhar Community Health Centre while 11 have been reported from Kharupetia College.They have been shifted to Mangaldai Civil Hospital.
Of the fresh positive cases, there are some health workers engaged with COVID-19 treatment.
Dr. Deepak Chandra Das, in-charge of Singimari Model Hospital in Kamrup district who has been working as a dedicated COVID-19 facility, has tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
However, he was not directly involved in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The doctor is currently under treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati.
Another health worker identified as Saiful Islam from Bihdia block primary health centre in Kamrup has tested positive for COVID-19. Saiful came into contact with a COVID-19 patient on May 27 on the line of duty. He was under home quarantine since then.
Saiful, a resident of Nagaon village in Baihata Chariali has been shifted to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati after his test report emerged as COVID-19 positive. He allegedly flouted quarantine norms and visited several shops and a post office.
Dr. Hasid Jaman who was the facility in-charge of Panigaon Omprakash Dinodia College quarantine centre in North Lakhimpur has tested COVID-19 positive. Incoming passengers from other States have been kept at this quarantine centre.
A few days ago, some people created an unruly situation at the quarantine centre. Dr. Hasid Jaman had reportedly come into their contact. He was under isolation at Lakhimpur.
Earlier Dr. Lithikesh DS of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Dr. Deepa Deka of Regional Dental College, Guwahati had tested positive for COVID-19. Both of them have recovered and have been discharged from hospital.
