DEMOW, April 12: Locals of Demow have been gearing up for Rongali Bihu celebrations as soon as the culmination of assembly polls.
Green hue from new leaves of trees, blooming of flowers and the flowering of many fruits heralded onset of spring in Assam including Demow. To add to the beauty sweet and high pitched tone of cuckoo reverberated the surroundings. Youths practicing bihu dance in the beats and tunes of Dhol, Pepa and Gagana could be felt from every corner.
With only a day left for the Rongali Bihu, people were seen thronging the markets to buy new clothes on Monday. The Covid-19 badly affected livelihood last year and for which celebrations were kept low key. However, this year Bihu functions will also be organized in Demow by following COVID protocols, said a local of Demow.
The Bihu Dance and Dhol Badan workshop have been organised in various places of Demow and its surrounding areas where children took part as well.
The women were busy making delicacies like Til Pitha, Tel Pitha, Coconut (Narikol) Ladoo along with other items. On the other hand under the patronage of ATASU, Demow Regional Committee and Former ATASU leaders, the fifth annual Mukoli Bihu will be organised in Demow public playground on April 15.
