DIPHU, Aug 14: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken initiatives for stoppage of several trains at Diphu and Hawaipur railway stations to facilitate the common passengers of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.
The action has been initiated by NFR after BJP MP from Autonomous District (ST) constituency, Horensing Bey submitted a memorandum to railway minister Piyush Goyal for stoppages of trains at Diphu and at Hawaipur railway stations.
The Union minister has assured Bey for stoppage of trains in the two stations apart from developing infrastructure of Diphu Railway Station.
On Tuesday, NFR general manager (operation) has directed to divisional manager of Lumding Railway Division for a two minute stoppage of Silchar-Dibrugarh Barak Brahmaputra Express at Diphu and Guwahati Mariani Express at Hawaipur with effect from August 20 on experimental basis for a period of six months.
The arrival of Dibrugarh-Silchar Barak Brahmaputra Express at Diphu will be at 1.40 am and departure will be at 1.42 am. Similarly, the Silchar-Dibrugarh Barak Brahmaputra Express will arrive at Diphu railway station at 4.58 am and leave at 5 am.
The Guwahati-Mariani Express will arrive at Hawaipur will be at 3.28 pm and depart at 3.30 pm. The Mariani Guwahati Express will arrive at Hawaipur at 12.03 pm and leave at 12.05 pm.
