IMPHAL, June 17 (Newmai): Internal crisis in the BJP, Manipur unit gained more steams as rebel MLAs met Union Home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, furthering their campaign seeking replacement of N Biren Singh as chief minister.
Chief minister N Biren Singh, too, continues his campaign in New Delhi by meeting with national BJP party leaders in New Delhi. On Monday, Biren met Union Forest and Environment minister Prakash Javadekar, a key leader of the party.
Mention may be made that 17 BJP MLAs out of 21 BJP MLAs who are revolting against chief minister N Biren Singh had recently petitioned the BJP national president and the Prime Minister for change of leadership in the BJP-led coalition government in Manipur.
Since then BJP national leaders have been trying to find ways to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, though an official statement of the chief minister’s secretariat related the meeting between chief minister Biren Singh and Prakash Javadekar as official business, a highly reliable source said that during the meeting, the chief minister discussed about the internal crisis of the ruling party in the state.
