Don’t allow outsiders to join in KA: KSA tells CEM

DIPHU, Sept 22: Karbi Students Association (KSA) on Friday asked Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) not to allow the recently-appointed TET qualified teachers to join in various schools of Karbi Anglong.

In a memorandum to CEM Tuliram Ronghang, the student body however said four Karbi candidates should be allowed to join in their jobs. The KSA also demanded for repeal of Assam government circular on requisite qualification of teachers and acquire Diploma in Elementary Education within 2019.

Notably, the Lok Sabha on July 21 passed a Bill that offers untrained teachers teaching in schools time till March 31, 2019, to acquire B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) or D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) qualifications to hold their jobs as teachers. This was done through an amendment to the Right to Education Act, 2009, as a last chance to such teachers not to lose their jobs.
