DIPHU, July 18: District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) carried out a two day donation drive in Diphu town to contribute to the flood victims of 30 districts across the state.
DPCKA president Kiri Ronghang said the donation drive is carried out to raise funds to help to the flood affected people. The second wave of flood has damaged large cultivable land and many villages are still under water. There is water and food scarcity and many people are homeless as their houses have been destroyed by flood water. It is with the humanitarian approach the DPCKA has decided to raise funds for the flood victims, Ronghang said.
Roghang has also urged the general public and business persons as well as government employees to contribute whatever amount they can to give for the flood victims. The DPCKA members have approach several shop keepers and business establishments to give freely for the flood victims. On Friday the DPCKA will go around Diphu town for the donation drive. The collected amount will be handed to the district administration.
The DPCKA, secretary, Daniel Bey and members Vivian Longki Rongpi, Chandan Terang, Saidel Islam, Biplop Paul, Ajit Rishi Das and Pradip Kro participated in the drive.
