East Garo Hills DC organises awareness program on EVM and VVPAT

WILLIAMNAGAR, Jan 5: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Election), Ram Kumar, organised a one-day hands-on awareness programme on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Williamnagar, on January 5, 2018, where a good number of representatives of police officers, leaders from the National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP) and Indian National Congress (INC) had participated.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the programme was organised with a view to provide hands-on and quality awareness to the officers of the government departments as well as the political parties ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.
During the programme, a detailed and thorough functioning of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) was presented by the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Kumar which was followed by practical session on the functioning of various components of EVM including the VVPAT.
