EC observer reviews status of facilities at polling stations in Diphu

DIPHU, April 7:Election commission (EC) observer Rajesh Sukumur Toppo for 3-Autonomous District (ST) Constituency reviewed the status of facilities in polling stations and prepared contingency plan in this regard by district election officer (DEO) in a meeting held at Circuit House here on Sunday.

The zonal and sector officers of 18-Howraghat (ST) and 19-Diphu (ST) assembly segments also participated in the discussion for the ensuing election.

Toppo directed the zonal and sector officers to ensure that assured minimum facilities like ramp, drinking water facilities, toilets and lighting facilities are available in all Polling Stations and to prepare a contingency plan for providing sufficient lighting facilities both inside and outside the Polling Stations for smooth conduct of poll.

He also requested deputy commissioner and district election officer to make proper assessment in this regard based on the feedback to be submitted by zonal and sector officers for providing alternative source of lighting facilities where direct electricity connection cannot be restored.

The observer also directed the zonal and sector officers to discharge their duties diligently so that the Election process could be completed in free fair and peaceful manner.

The meeting was also attended by deputy commissioner and district election officer Mukul Kumar Saikia, additional deputy commissioner Hemanta Pegu and also, election officer Priyanku Jyoti Sharma.
