‘Rs 300 crore to utilised for Taralangso development’
DIPHU, Dec 17: “An amount of Rs 100 crore will be utilised for improvement of Taralangso, the venue of Karbi Youth festival (KYF),” Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang said here Monday.
The fund will be provided from the Central allocation to be granted under clauses of memorandum of settlement (MoS) signed with United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), Ronghang said and added that all efforts would be made to make KYF a most attractive festival in the international level.
However, the CEM admitted that the frequent bandhs and other agitational programmes have disrupted the developmental process, especially construction of infrastructure of the developmental projects in the hill district.
“We are trying to complete the road from Diphu town to Taralangso before the festival, but if there is continuous bandhs like this then work will be delayed,” the CEM said.
The CEM further said dresses to all KCS Zones will be provided on time. He also urged everyone to support common issues.
“For publicity and promoting the KYF, KAAC has opened an information technology cell on KYF. To take KYF at the national and international level I have discussed the matter with the Union IT minister,” he said.
