ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Wednesday was a historic day for Arunachal Pradesh as the state exported the first consignment of Naara-Aaba, first organic kiwi wine.
The ‘Naara-Aaba’ is from one of the few organic kiwi wineries located outside Switzerland, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district.
The first consignment/batch was jointly flagged of by Pebom Bagra, deputy commissioner of tax & excise and Igam Basar, director, state horticulture research institute from Akashdeep Complex.
With the export this first batch of Naara-Aaba, the product will be available for all wine lovers of North East, said Tage Rita, CMD of M/s Lambu Subu Food & Beverages, Ziro.
Wine is produced from the cent percent organic kiwi fruits of Ziro valley, the CMD said. Only best of the fruits are chosen for wine making in the winery. It is sorted, cleaned, jet washed with spring water before crushing it into a crusher, Rita added.
Kiwi production in Arunachal is around 9,428 metric tonnes, of which Lower Subansiri district produces 2,500 metric tonnes.
Apart from 13 per cent alcohol, it has vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B2 and minerals like calcium, iron, sodium chloride, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium.
Lambu-Subu Food and Beverages Limited is the second organic kiwi winery in the world after Switzerland.
