Fishing restrictions imposed in Sivasagar district

SIVASAGAR, April3:  The Sivasagar deputy commissioner in-charge Pronobjit Kakoty through an order on April 1 has imposed restrictions to fishing activities in fisheries.

The restrictions have been put in place keeping in view of breeding season of fish from April 1 to July 15. under the provisions of Section 144 Cr PC, 1974, imposed certain restrictions on the use of all types of fishing nets of measures less than 7cm/14cm ( 2 and half inches square) during the breeding season of fish from April 1 to July 15 in all proclaimed fishery or so. The order also bans catching and killing of breeding fish( carrying eggs and sperms)of species namely Bahu( Catla), Mirika(Mrigal) , Mali(Kaliajara), Chital, Kharia, Pithia( Mahasul),Gharia and Kuri(Gonius) during the period. The order that came into effect with immediate effect will be in force for 60 days subject to further extension. Violation of the order shall invite punishment under Section 188 IPC.
