GUWAHATI, Nov 25: Northeast Frontier Railway has been organising a series of free eye screening camps in association with Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati all over its jurisdiction as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. The camps are open to the public. In this series, recently camps have been organised at North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji Railway Stations on November 23 and 24 respectively where 231 patients availed the services. Several AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) beneficiaries attended the camps who were advised surgery. These families under BPL category were made aware of availability of free cashless surgery under AB-PMJAY scheme in Central Hospital, Maligaon and Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati.
Among the beneficiaries of the camp, persons with eye-ailments were given due preference for eye-screening. Persons suspected or diagnosed with eye-ailments such as cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, diabetic retinopathy, etc., were counselled.
Earlier on November 8, one such free eye screening camp was organised by the Central Hospital of Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon in association with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati at Headquarters Health Unit premises.
