DIPHU, June 23: On the occasion of 67th foundation day, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) distributed gearless scooter to 24 ASHA workers for their outstanding work by at Joysing Doloi Auditorium on Saturday.
Giving away the award, the CEM said, “I have fulfilled my promise that I will award outstanding ASHA workers of Karbi Anglong at the ASHA workers of convention last year.”
EM for health and family welfare, Khansing Rongpi said 24 best ASHA workers have been selected on the criteria of their performance for communication purposes.
Deepa Ronghangpi, an ASHA worker in Urban Block of Diphu Civil Hospital under Manja Block, who was among the 24 ASHA workers receiving the gearless scooter, felt lucky to receive the award and thanked the KAAC authority for providing such an ward to ASHA workers.
Tannaz Khan, who was among the 1000 merit list among girls in HS examination (Arts) last year in the state of Assam, was also awarded Rs. 50,000 by KAAC. She is from Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. She is 547th rank (Arts) in the state. Last year she had received a gearless scooter from the state in a function held at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati.
On the occasion sports persons Sonia Marak of Satgaon and Dhon Killing of Diphu were each awarded Rs. 5,000 and citation. Others awarded on the occasion were farmers Im Timung from Bokajan and Dhonsing Ronghang from Artukekang, West Karbi Anglong were awarded Rs. 10000 and citation each, Dhoneswar Engti of Diphu was awarded Rs. 50,000 for his contribution towards literature, Khorsing Terang Award was given to Raidang Ingti, posthumously which carried Rs. 25000 for his contribution towards the Karbi society.
