GOLAGHAT, May 27: With 130 active cases, the COVID-19 Hospital here on Wednesday ran out of bed for new patients. The newly constructed mother and child hospital was converted into a dedicated COVID-19 Hospital on April 17, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
The 120-bed hospital is equipped with fifty six quarantine beds, fourty isolation beds and twenty four ICU beds.
“As we runs out of bed, the new patients will now be shifted to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital and Nagaon Swahid Bhoogeswari Phookanani Civil Hospital. Today we have admitted 14 new patients in JMCH. Till date we have not taken any decision to treat the new cases in the nursing homes and other private hospitals of the district,” Golaghat deputy commissioner Bibhash Chandra Modi said.
Regarding the agitation by some patients on Tuesday night about the quality of food provided to them at the hospital, Modi said that instead of creating a scene they could have inform the same in a better manner. “Such type of behaviour will derail the seamless exercise of the administration as well as lower the morale of our Covid warriors. Presently we are manning twenty eight quarantine centres across the district which may be increased,” Modi said.
