Haflong, Aug 16: North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief executive member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa on Wednesday thrashed the opposition parties, including congress and AGP for making hurdle in the process of development in Dima Hasao district and said that opposition have no issues but mislead the people with some false propaganda.
Unfurling the national tricolour at Assam Rifle Ground at Sarkari Bagan here, Gorlosa said the charges brought against him of killing of two congress leaders Purnendu Langthasa and Nindu Langthasa was nothing but a political conspiracy against him.
“I was in the organisation and fought for the cause of Dima Hasao. But I came to the mainstream and presently holding the charge of CEM after getting mandate from the people. I urge the people to trust on the BJP government and council for better future of Dima Hasao,” Gorlosa said.
Gorlosa highlighted various development projects undertaken by BJP-lead council in the areas of electrification, road communication, tourism and infrastructure, health care and education. He said that almost 90% electrification in rural area has been completed in the hill district.
On pending salary to NCHAC normal sector employees, the CEM said that 10 month salary will be released with gratuity before Durga Puja while a comprehensive VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) as per guidelines is underway to cut down the number of employees.
The CEM said that an organic shopping complex will be constructed very soon in town committee field (lalfield) which will benefit the local traders. He said that B Ed college is established in Maibang while technical education institution poly technique will be completed soon.
In the health care, the CEM said that it is first time Dima Hasao is able to get Cancer Hospital while the Haflong Civil hospital got the second best hospital award. As regards to communication, the CEM said that a helipad in Dibarai, Haflong and sea plane will be introduced soon in Umrangso to attract and explore vast tourism in the district before March next.
He also claimed that all the Centrally-sponsored schemes are being implemented in the hill district successfully.
The programme was attended by the MLA BB Hagjer, EMs and members of the council, deputy commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa superintendent of police Prasanta Saikia, commandant of 43 Assam Rifles Col. Sumit Sood along with students, teachers and dignitaries officers and staff from 22 sector Assam Rifles, 43 Assam Rifles and Assam Police.
The CEM also released two books namely ‘History of the Dimasas & Other writings of SR. Thaosen’ by Vandana Thaosen and ‘A brief account of the tribes of Dima Hasao Assam’ by Ramdina Lalsim published under the department of information & public relations.
Authored by Vandana Thaosen, grand- daughter of SR Thaosen, this volume is a collection of writings by Sonaram Thaosen one of the few enterprising Dimasas.
The I-day was also celebrated in Maibang with a day long programme. The national tricolour was unfurled by Maibang SDO NK Debnath in the presence of SDPO Mayank Kumar. The programme was held at Dishru field where hundreds of people attended.
