Guwahati, Dec 6: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on the occasion of his death anniversary.
In a shraddhanjali programme held at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday, Prof. Mukhi paid glowing tributes to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Paying his homage, Prof Mukhi said that the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was the architect of modern India. He also said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar throughout his life worked for an equal society where there would be no discrimination and everybody irrespective of class or caste would be meted out same treatment. He at the same time said that on the day of his death anniversary, everybody should work to realize Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s dream of classless society. Therefore, the man who was the chairman of Constituent Assembly to frame the Constitution deserves a lot from the country, the Governor added.
Born on 14 April, 1891, Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar died on December 6, 1956. He was a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer. He was also the first law minister of Independent India.
On the occasion all the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan paid their floral tributes to the portrait of Ambedkar.
The officers and staff of NF Railway Construction Organisation on Thursday observed the 62nd Mahaparinirwan Divas (death anniversary) of Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar in the HQ premises. N K Prasad, General Manager/ N F Railway/Construction paid homage by lighting a lamp and also by floral tributes. Other officers and staff also paid their respect by offering floral tributes.
