GOSSAIGAON, April 23: In view of the surge of Covid-19 positive cases in the state, the state government has decided to intensify Covid test in Srirampur area along the Assam-West Bengal border.
The state government has asked the Kokrajhar district administration to check each and every individual crossing through the gate to contain the spread of virus in the state.
Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan and superintendent of police Rakesh Roushan on Friday visited Srirampur and inspected the sites and asked the local administration to set up Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) centre at the border to test the people coming to the state from West Bengal.
Phukan said those who come to Assam through this border will have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test and if found positive will be kept in Covid Care Centre in Kokrajhar.
Roushan said that every precautionary measure will be taken up for the safety of people and to contain the spread of coronavirus. The SP also urged the local people to abide by the Covid-19 protocol to save themselves from the second wave of pandemic.
Those who violate the protocol will be booked under law, the SP said.
Kokrajhar DC also held a meeting with Gossaigaon SDO (Civil) Pallavi Sarkar at the SDO-Civil office in presence of SP Rakesh Roushan, SDPO Saurav Gupta, additional deputy commissioners SK Chetry and Kamaljyati Medhi.
