Aizawl, Aug 4 (PTI): The Mizoram police recovered 318 grams of heroin from a motorcycle in Lunglei district and arrested two Myanmarese nationals in this connection.
The police said, the contraband worth around Rs 10 lakh, was found hidden in the motorcycle near Pukpui village on Thursday.
It was reportedly smuggled from Leilet hamlet in Myanmar.
Lalmawia (22) and Vanlalenga (30), both residents of Leilet hamlet, were arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and Foreigners’ Act.
Meanwhile, 3.059 kg heroin had been seized by the state Excise and Narcotics Department alone during January to June, the records of the department said. The department officials had seized 4.039 kg and 4.088 kg of heroin in 2016 and 2015 respectively, the department officials said.
