Hojai, Aug 17: Hojai district committee of Asam Sahitya Sabha on Friday organised a shraddhanjali programme to pay tribute to former Prime Minister of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee.
The programme was organised at Sahid Badhi at New Market in Hojai town for the former Prime Minister who passed away on Thursday after battling a prolonged illness at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was 93.
On the other hand, Sarv Hindustani Parishad Assam State Committee and Adarsha Pusktakalya jointly organised a condolence meet near Civil Hospital in Hojai to pay rich tribute to former Prime Minister on Friday evening.
Also, in order to pay homage, denizens of Hojai town kept their business establishments closed down from afternoon 12 to 6 in the evening also lighted candle and earthen lamp in front of their house’s and shop in honour of him.
