DIPHU, Oct 19: “The illegal appointments are being made in the forest department against various posts through a retired range officer BN Narzary, who is now the officer on special duty (OSD) appointed by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Karbi Farmers Association (KFA) alleged here on Sunday.
“There are a large number of illegal appointments made in various forest offices in Karbi Anglong against different posts in exchange for bribe. A retired range officer BN Narzary is dealing in all these illegal appointments. The posts of forest guard, forester, peon and muster roll are being sold for money. He is taking more than Rs one lakh from each candidate against a post. The activities of selling and buying of jobs are being done at his residence, near Valley View in Diphu,” KFA president Avinash Ronghang said addressing a press conference here.
Ranghang said that Narzary has the blessings of those in KAAC authority that is why he is able to do all these.
The KFA demanded chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, who is in charge of the forest department, to immediately terminate the services of Narzary as the OSD and to constitute a proper investigation on the illegal appointments made by him.
The KFA gave a week’s time to KAAC authority to take action against Narzary for his illegal activities.
