GUWAHATI, Aug 13: National Journalist Union of India (NJUI) national vice president and Journalist Association of Assam (JAA) general secretary Bhupen Goswami has been undergoing treatment at GNRC Hospital here due to cardiac aliment. Medicine specialist Dr Aswini Bezbaruah and cardiologist Dr Anup Boro have been attending him.
Started his career in “Budhbaar” and “Aagan” in 1993, Goswami has been working as bureau chief of a national Hindi daily “Rastriya Khabar’ from Guwahati since 2014.
“Goswami’s family is hopeful of his recovery but his treatment expenses are increasing and they are struggling to keep his on treatment,” JAA president DN Chakorvorty and working president Dalim Kumar Phookan said in a press release here on Monday.
“Goswami needs treatment until his condition improves. He cannot be shifted to any other hospital in this condition,” they said.
They also urged chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for giving financial help for treatment of the senior journalist.
