GUWAHATI, July 20: With fresh death of three more persons, the death toll in Japanese Encephalitis has touched 104 in Assam, a bulletin of National Health Mission (NHM) said here Saturday.
On Saturday, one death case has been reported from Kokrajhar while two other cases have been reported from Sonitpur district, bulletin said.
One Somaina Mushahary (20) hailing from Gwjwnpuri Jharbari in Kokrajhar district, died of Japanese Encephalitis at Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon on Friday night.
The deceased was an HS final year student of Serfanguri Janata College.
Confirming the death, Kokrajhar district surveillance officer Dr Amol Mochary said four persons have been detected positive for JE in Kokrajhar.
Two persons died of JE in Gohpur, Biswanath on Saturday. Dambaru Baruah (64) from Helemguri village died at Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH). Another seven year old boy Sanju Kaman, son of Krishna Kanta Kaman from Bartamuli village of Gohpur died of JE on Saturday.
The number of JE positive cases reported across the state has gone up to 459 with 20 more persons detected with JE positive on Saturday, the bulletin said.
Similarly, a total of 9 death cases of AES/JE cases have been reported in the state raising the death toll in AES/JE has mounted to 231, the bulletin said.
A total of 68 AES/JE positive cases have been reported during the day. On the other hand, a total of 1,637 people have been detected positive for AES/ JE in the state, the bulletin said.
