Kamrup DTO Conducts Road Safety Awareness Drive

GUWAHATI, Dec 20: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the transport and police dept to promote awareness among the public regarding road safety — especially to stop drivers from consuming alcohol on December 31 in order to prevent any accidents. Hence, following the CM’s directive in this regard, the Betkuchi-based office of DTO (R&L) Kamrup (Metro) police and transport dept have taken steps to promote road safety awareness amongst the drivers, particularly those who are in the habit of driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol. During the last few days, Gautam Das, asst comm of transport ad DTO (R&L) Kamrup Metro, held a series of meetings and road shows in the city to promote road safety awareness amongst the vehicle drivers and the general public. Under his guidance MVIs and EIs have placed road safety hoardings along the highways. The hoardings written both in Assamese and English, advise how to avoid road accidents while driving and what to do to ensure road safety.
