Kamrup (M) election district records lowest voter turnout in phase 3 polls

GUWAHATI, April 7: The Kamrup Metro election district recorded the lowest voter turnout compared to other poll-bound constituencies in the third and final phase of polls in Assam. As per the Election Commission of India’s voter turnout app, the polling percentage in the Kamrup Metro election district is estimated to be around 75.84%. Of the 12 poll-bound districts, South Salmara led the horse race with 92.18% voter turnout closely followed by Bilasipara and Dhubri with a polling percentage of 90.85% and 90.44% respectively.

In Kamrup metro election district, the Jalukbari constituency led the voter turnout percentage with 82.34% on the other hand, Gauhati East lagged behind with 71.14% voter turnout.

The numbers of male voter turnout were 437478 whereas female voter turnout was 436595 out of total 569437 and 583006 voters respectively. It is noteworthy to mention that the percentage of female voters compared to male voters is more in the Kamrup Metro district, although voters’ turnout came out to be vice versa. Of the total 44 third gender voters, six had cast their votes at respective constituencies under Kamrup Metro district. The final percentage of voting in four constituencies under Kamrup Metro election district stood at Jalukbari – 82.34%, Dispur – 74.35%, Gauhati East – 71.14% and Gauhati West -77.23%.
