DIPHU, Sept 28: The Karbi Students Union (KSU) has called upon the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to cancel the land pattas issued to the non-tribal people migrated to Karbi Anglong after 1951.
In a memorandum submitted to EM for land and revenue Rupsing Teron, the KSA general secretary Richard Ingti also demanded the council to take stringent action against the officials involved in issuing land pattas to non-tribal people in the hill district.
“KSU will stick to its demand until and unless the KAAC takes appropriate measures on it,” the memorandum said.
The student body also submitted a list of 18 non-tribal people who have received land pattas from the council.
They are: Sistom Sen, Khokom Das, Buru Das, Deepak Choudhary, Ajay Das, Sharmol Das, Mithu Das, Sujoy Dey, Komol Bora, Prabhat Dey, Sujit Sarkar, Probal Das, Dulal Ghosh, Babul Mazumdar, Parimal Chakraborty, Dr. SK Das, Lokhon Singh and Suresh Sharma (owner of Glass Corner).
