DIPHU, Sept 7: Four leaders of Simeon Rongphar led faction of Karbi Students Association (KSA) were expelled from the organisation for vandalising the central committee office of the student body at Lumding Road in Diphu and making a bid to assault its president Simeon Rongphar.
They are- Semson Ingti, Mondil Inghee, Sukur Bey and Rensing Rongphar, KSA president Simeon Rongphar told reporters here on Thursday.
“These leaders from Dokmoka, Jerikindeng, Longthat and Jiribasa have boycotted the August 28 programme jointly organised by KSA, Dimasa Students Union, Dimasa Women Society, Students for Justice, Women Commission, AISA and Students and Youth Council, in Guwahati for demand of Autonomous State and for constitution of CBI enquiry in various departments of KAAC,” Rongphar said..
“On September 4 more than 50 members led attacked the central committee office of KSA damaging office almirah and looted cash of Rs 25,000 and destroyed documents, some dating back to 1959,” Rongphar also said. The group tried to assault Rongphar, vice president Thomson Rongpi and sports secretary Pitar Phangcho in the office.
Earlier on September 6, KSA office secretary Raju Tisso of the same faction condemned president Rongphar and convenor of Students and Youth Council (SYC) of Hills State Demand Council (HSDC) Laichan Engleng for being members in CPI (ML)-HPC. Tisso alleged that the two joined hands to sell the land of KSA in Diphu town. They are in the KSA for selfish ends. The KSA leaders and members are dissatisfied with the system being run by president Simeon Ronghar and Laichan Engleng.
Tisso further said that the KSA has not split but opposed to the leadership of Rongphar and Engleng.
