DIPHU, April 21: With rest of the world Easter Sunday was celebrated in churches by the Christian community across Karbi Anglong district on Sunday. Easter Sunday is celebrated to commemorate the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ three days after his death. Diphu is no exception to it as various churches celebrated the day with the faithfuls attending the Easter Sunday service.
Among them was Rongchingdon Baptist Church, Rongchingri, here, where church members including women, youth and Sunday school children took part in the Easter service. In absence of Pastor Harun Rongpi, Deacon Joanish Rongphar was the chairman. Deacon Roben Rongpi was the speaker for the Easter service, where he narrated the death and resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ three days after his death.
He urged every Christian to be faithful to the teaching of the bible and live according to God’s will. He asked everyone to receive the blessings of the risen Lord Jesus Christ so as to live in peace, love and understanding within the family and neighbours.
Bible reading was taken up by Women department, vice president, Manai Kropi. Offertory collection was done by Deaconess Roselyn Tokbipi and Catherina Beypi and finance secretary Semson Killing and Nobin Killing. Women department, president, Lily Hansepi offered offertory prayer.
Women, youth and Sunday school children presented chorus songs and dances on the day. The concluding prayer was pronounced by adviser, Women Department, Kledish Terangpi. In Bokajan Sub Division, the day was celebrated by the Christians. In Lakhijan Baptist Church Easter Sunday service began from 11 am.
