GUWAHATI, Feb 22: The patrolling party of Putia Baramasia border outpost of 100Bn under frontier headquarter BSF Guwahati, noticed suspicious movement of 20-25 miscreants from Bangladesh side and 18-20 miscreants on India side along with cattle heads along the Indo-Bangla border on February 21 last.
In order to disperse the miscreants, the patrolling personnel resorted to throwing 1 chilly grenade towards them, but the miscreants retaliated with open firing possibly from a point 32 pistol. In reply, the patrolling personnel also fired back 1 round from PAG, however, they managed to escape taking advantage of foggy weather. Later, while searching, an area of the border fence was found near BP No- 904/7-S and the troops also recovered 2 live rounds, 2 empty cases from the area.
Meanwhile, in another incident, miscreants openly fired on BSF troops on duty. It is pertinent to mention that a similar firing incident took place on December 31, 2020 in the aforesaid area in which the BSF personnel had managed to apprehend 2 cattle smugglers.
