NDRF rescues woman from drowning in Brahamaputra

GUWAHATI, Nov 6: A Bengaluru-based woman was rescued from drowning in the Brahmaputra by a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) near Umananda Temple here on Wednesday.

The 48-year old woman identified as Prasanthi Reddy accidentally drowned in the river when she was taking a holy dip in the Brahmaputra near Umananda Temple.

The NDRF team deployed at Uzanbazar ghat on the occasion of Brahmaputra Puskar & Sanskritik Mahotsov, promptly acted and rescued her without any harm at about 6.15 pm. Prasanthi is wife of Ramesh Reddy a resident of White Field, Bengaluru East, Karnataka. She arrived in Guwahati to visit Umananda Temple.
