DIPHU, Dec 3: Oath of office was administered to six ward commissioners of the newly constituted Adhoc Borlangpher Town Committee (TC) at the conference hall of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Secretariat here on Friday.
The six ward commissioners are chairman Kamsing Timung, vice chairman, Sarthe Bey, Biren Tokbi, Phulmun Hanse, Longki Tisso and nominated ward commissioner Nirmal Chauhan.
The oath of office was administered by under secretary of KAAC, Raso Bey and attended by executive member (EM), KAAC Ratan Teron, Prodip Rongpi and Mongalsing Timung and MLA Bidyasing Engleng.
On the other hand, as the oath-taking ceremony was being held at KAAC, local youths of Langsoli-et protested for inducting Nirmal Chauhan as a nominated ward commissioner and mark it as a ‘black day’ at old Langsoli-et market.
The protesters demanded that the chief executive member (CEM) of KAAC, Dr. Tuliram Ronghang remove Chauhan as nominated ward commissioner. The youths have threatened to cease all support in all developmental activities to be executed in Langsoli-et and Borlangpher area.
An agitating youth during the protest said, “Our purpose of protest today is against the inclusion of Nirmal Chauhan as nominated ward commissioner in Adhoc Borlangpher TC. We are not satisfied with the inclusion of Chauhan as nominated ward commissioner and he should be removed.”
It may be mentioned that last year CEM Ronghang announced the declaration of Borlangpher-Langsoli-et TC. But in the declaration, it was only mentioned as Borlangpher Town Committee. Langsoli-et is not close to Borlangpher and even Langsoli-et’s name is not mentioned in the declaration.
