Kohima, Jan 1: Nagaland home minister Kuzholuzo Nienu asserted on the need to do research on the rich culture and traditions of Nagas and urged to revive the culture in a Christian manner and also live in a Christian way.
Speaking at the 59th general session-cum-cultural dance competition of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) at Phek town, the district headquarters on Sunday held under the theme “Education for Culture,” Nienu said good culture should be used wisely while the culture that does not suit society should be avoided as Nagaland was a Christian state and society.
Nienu maintained that good culture transmits good behaviour, respect, obedience, hard work and punctuality adding that culture does not only mean wearing traditional dress, singing folk dances and songs but also one’s good behaviour.
He urged the students to adopt a culture acceptable in human society and to start behaving better and avoid creating nuisance.
The minister acknowledged PSU for doing away the culture of inviting VVIPs as chief guest and “gifting” system but to give due recognition to those students who were doing well in their academic career.
