Army praised for maintaining sanctity of LAC with China
SHILLONG, Nov 6: Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is on a two-day visit to Spear Corps Zone, arrived at Chabua on Tuesday.
On her arrival, Sitharaman was received by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command Lt Gen MM Naravane and Lt Gen Gopal R, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps.
Sitharaman thereafter proceeded to Dinjan where she was briefed by General Officer Commanding, Dao Division on the security situation in Upper Assam and operational preparedness along the LAC with China.
She complimented the efforts of the Dao Division in maintaining the sanctity of LAC with China and appreciated the armed forces for their utmost dedication in the line of duty.
At Dinjan, the minister also interacted with Veer Naris and Ex-servicemen and distributed sweets to them on the occasion of Diwali.
On Wednesday, the Union minister is scheduled to visit forward posts and celebrate Diwali with troops along the Line of Actual Control.
