GUWAHATI, Sept 6: “There is no Meghalaya quota for MBBS course in Assam. But we have been giving admission to students from Meghalaya considering that there is no medical college in the state,” Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters here on Wednesday while reacting to the issue.
“Now we have abolished the system. They (states) have to approach us (Assam government) seeking MBBS seats in medical colleges,” Sarma said and added, “The Centre has also said it is the states subject. Now it is up to us whether we can help our neighbour or not.”
