NAGAON, Dec 11: When the state education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu as well as state education advisor Nani Gopal Mahanta expressed their respective concerns over disinclination to study science among major portion of the students’ community, the historic Nowgong College (autonomous) with a social responsibility has come ahead to make aware of science and its study among the students.
In order to spread the popularity of science, the leading institution of higher education in the district initiated a slew of programmes across the district.
As part of these initiatives, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nowgong College (autonomous) in association with Kolongpar branch of Assam Science Society organised an advisory programme with a title ‘Dhemali Cholere Vigyan’ at Nowgong College on Friday last. Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of the college chaired the programme where Mridul Kr Nath, Inspector of Schools, Nagaon attended as the chief guest and Dr Bhuban Chandra Chutia, coordinator of IQAC delivered the welcome address.
In his speech, Dr Sarat Borkatoki elaborated the importance of science and displayed the data based indexes of science students in the state and at the centre. He intimated it too that such programmes would be continued for the next three months.
Dipika Laskar, principal of Nowgong Govt Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Dipti Hazarika, principal of Motiram Bora Higher Secondary School, Partha pratim Laskar, principal of Nowgong Govt Urban High School, all science teachers and students of IX and X standard of those three educational institutions participated in the programme, a release added.
