KOKRAJHAR, Nov 26: Security forces apprehended a hardcore cadre of the anti-talk faction of the National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA) from Ripu reserve forest of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday morning.
Based on specific inputs about movement of militant cadres, a joint operation of Assam police, SSB, CRPF Cobra and Indian army was conducted along the Ripu Reserve Forest area during which the NSLA cadre was successfully apprehended.
The cadre has been identified as Bajun Tudu of Kashiabari, Gossaigaon. A 7.65 factory-made pistol, one magazine, three 7.55 mm rounds, two country made rifles were also recovered from his.
Notably, the NSLA is a splinter group of five militant outfit organisation of the Adivashi Cobra in the state of Assam, which was formed in 2005. “Police administration has been taking stern operation against the militant outfit organization in the region and apprehended several cadres and over ground workers during regular operations,” said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.
