GUWAHATI, Aug 31: After resumption of goods train services from August 29, North East Frontier Railways (NRF) will resume passenger trains from September 3 next, NF Railway chief spokesperson PJ Sharma said here on Thursday. Four passenger trains will run from September 2, while two more will run the next day and another train on September 4 next as per initial schedule, Sharma said.
The first set of trains will cross the damaged section on September 3.
The railways have decided to go for gradual introduction of more trains till the situation normalises, Sharma also said. The work is going on in full swing at site for completion of balance work and further relaxation of speed.
As only ‘UP’ line has been restored and traffic in Telta Sudhani block section is plying at restricted speed of 10 KMPH, authorities have decided to go in for gradual introduction of passenger services, the Sharma further said.
The trains which will start plying from September 2 are 12423 Rajdhani Express from Dibrugarh Town, 12424 Rajdhani Express from New Delhi, 15960 Kamrup Express from Dibrugarh, 15959 Kamrup Express from Howrah and 13145 Kolkata Radhikapur Express from Kolkata. On September 3, the trains that will ply are 12505 North East Express from Guwahati and 13146 Radhikapur Kolkata Express from Radhikapur.The 12506 North East Express will resume from Anand Vihar Terminal on September 4.Trains services to parts of eastern region and entire NE were suspended earlier this month following damages to railway tracks due to floods in Bihar and West Bengal.
