Sonowal reviews preparation for Modi’s visit at Silapathar
GUWAHATI, Feb 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will again visit Assam on Monday to push up the BJP’s poll campaign momentum in the poll-bound state.
Ahead of the assembly polls in the state, it will be Modi’s third visit to Assam within a month since his visit to Sivasagar on January 23.
Modi will unveil several infrastructure projects, lay the foundation stone of an engineering college and address a public rally at Silapathar in Dhemaji district.
Modi will dedicate to the nation the INDMAX Unit at Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon Refinery, Oil India Limited’s Secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban, Dibrugarh and a Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda Village, Makum, Tinsukia. He will also inaugurate the Dhemaji Engineering College and lay the foundation stone for Sualkuchi Engineering College.
Governor and chief minister of the state and Union minister for petroleum and natural gas will also be present on the occasion.
The Gas Compressor Station at Makum, Tinsukia will increase the nation’s crude oil production capacity by nearly 16500 Metric Tonne per annum. Built at Rs 132 crore, the station comprises 3 Low-Pressure Booster Compressors and 3 High-Pressure Lifter Compressors.
The Dhemaji Engineering College has been built on 276 bighas of land, at the cost of about Rs 45 crore. It is the seventh Government Engineering College in the state and will offer B.Tech courses in Civil, Mechanical and Computer Science. The Sualkuchi Engineering College, whose foundation stone will be laid, will be built on 116 bighas of land at a cost of about Rs 55 crore.
In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam on February 22, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday visited Silapathar in Dhemaji district and took stock of the preparations being put in place for the high profile visit of the Prime Minister.
Sonowal went straight to the meeting venue from where the Prime Minister would ceremoniously launch a series of projects.
Union minister of state for food processing Rameswar Teli, minister of state (Ind) for revenue Jogen Mohan, minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika, MP Lakhimpur Pradan Baruah, MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Rituporna Baruah, Bhuban Pegu, additional director general of police (security) Harmeet Singh and other senior officers were present during chief minister’s visit.
