DIPHU, Sept 9: In the continued implementation of BJP-led NDA government’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Executive Member (EM) Kache Rongpipi on Sunday distributed domestic gas connection, cylinders and stoves to the beneficiaries in a function held at Rongagora Government ME School premises.
In the formal distribution ceremony only 25 were given the scheme but overall 150 beneficiaries got the benefit.
On the occasion EM Rongpipi said, “The women folk face a lot of difficulties in cooking so the government has brought the scheme for distribution of domestic gas under PMUJ. I appeal to you not to sell the gas cylinders to others.”
“In Socheng Dhenta (Member of Autonomous Council constituency) there are a lot of people who do not have land documents, I appeal to you to get them. The Eco Sensitive Zone around Kaziranga National Park is only upto 10. There will no overall evection but to prevent illegal sand mining and stone quarries from coming up. There is no reason to worry, the land belongs to KAAC and KAAC will not give land to anyone else.”
She also spelled out the number of schemes for BPL families, Self Help Groups and individuals from the government.
Sports goods, mosquito nets and baskets were also distributed among the needy families.
The people of the area submitted memorandum for the repair of Longkoi Tisso-Jagadamba PWD road, an RCC bridge over Deopani river, Higher Secondary School and strengthening of Rongagora LAMPS.
Opposition party workers from Congress and HSDC also joined the BJP on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by chairman, Socheng Dhenta, VDC, Bronson Terang, president, BJP, Rongmongve Mondal Committee, Sem Engleng, chairman, BLCC, Kamsing Bey and others.
