MORIGAON, Sept 15: The minister for social welfare Pramila Rani Brahma on Saturday inaugurated the Poshan Abhiyan scheme for the children at Morigaon District Library’s auditorium hall in presence of Asha and Anganwadi workers.
Inaugurating the scheme, the minister said “PM Narendra Modi launched the child development scheme for providing nutritive food to the children who are suffering from malnutrition across the country so that not a single child could die due to malnutrition in the country.”
She also frankly said, “Though we received huge fund for such poverty alleviation schemes, yet such schemes have not been functioning well due to shortage of staff in social welfare department or PHE or PN & RD departments.”
Earlier she visited three Anganwadi centres led by CDPO Sanatan Das like Patidoia, Naowkata and Saronbeel under Bhurbandha block. Thereafter she inaugurated the scheme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The social welfare department also organised a ‘mass rice feeding’ ceremony for the children. More than three hundred Anganwadi and Asha workers took part in the programme.
